Organiser Emerald X is reviewing alternative ways of serving the plant-based sector
Events organiser Emerald X has cancelled Plant Based World Expo Europe for the foreseeable future.
The plant-based industry trade show was due to have taken place at London’s ExCeL on 26-27 November 2025.
While Emerald X didn’t give a specific reason as to why the event was axed, it posted on the expo’s website: “We have made the difficult decision to indefinitely postpone Plant Based World Expo Europe, including the 2025 edition.
“While we recognise this news may be disappointing, we believe it is the right step to ensure that our events remain aligned with the evolving plant-based landscape and positioned to deliver an even more impactful and valuable experience in the future.”
However, Plant Based World Expo North America is still going ahead and will take place on 2-3 December 2025 at the Javits Center, New York City.
Emerald X also promised to share more details on Plant Based World North America 2026 in the months ahead.
The cancellation comes amidst a slowdown in demand for vegan restaurants, with brands such as Neat Burger, Vurger Co and Herbivorous folding, and Pret A Manger converting the last of its 10 Veggie Pret sites to its standard model last year.
However, ING estimates the plant-based alternative food market in the EU and the UK will be worth £6.4b by 2025, compared to £3.8b in 2019.
