A group of top chefs are to step into the ring in a series of bouts to raise cash for food education
Chefs including Jason Atherton, Adam Smith and Celia Farrar are to take to the ring for a boxing gala in aid of food education charity Prept Foundation.
Taking place on 2 March at Old Billingsgate, London, the mouthwatering lines ups include Jason Atherton vs Andy Beynon, Niall Keating vs Paul Foster and Michael Bremner vs Dan Wade.
Over 700 guests are expected at the white colour boxing bouts. Along with the chefs channelling their aggression in the ring, they will be entertained by a Chet Sharma DJ set with DJ BBQ as MC, while enjoying a three course dinner.
Prept Foundation is a UK charity that aims to help young people build confidence, creativity, and healthier relationships with food. It currently delivers skills-based cooking programmes in schools and communities across Sussex and London, with plans for expansion into Lancashire, Manchester, and Birmingham).
Prept co-founder Dan Wade said: “We are so grateful the support we’ve received so far while organising Food Fight – from the sponsors that have come on board, to the chefs stepping into the ring for a good cause. This event is all about the hospitality sector coming together for good and highlighting the positives of the industry.
“The physical demands of chef work ties in perfectly with the endurance and perseverance required for boxing, and is a great opportunity for the participants to blow off a little steam, and of course, chefs are extremely competitive and passionate, so it’s sure to be an entertaining night for all!”
Mark Lombard, managing director at headline sponsor Lockhart Catering Equipment added: “Supporting Prept’s Food Fight was a no-brainer for Lockhart. Our values are completely aligned with their goals, putting the future of hospitality front-and-centre of the agenda. This event is a fantastic and creative way to kickstart our ongoing partnership, and together we hope to have a big impact on the industry.”
