The brand becomes the first UK egg supplier to gain the environmental accreditation
St Ewe Free Range Eggs has been awarded B Corp certification, making it the UK’s first egg packer to achieve the sustainability status.
To achieve the B Corp certification, businesses must meet high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.
The Cornwall-based egg supplier hopes that this accreditation will set a new benchmark for ethical and sustainable food production, and encourage the wider industry to hold themselves to those standards.
St Ewe’s founder and CEO Rebecca Tonks said: “Becoming part of the B Corp movement is just the beginning of our journey at St Ewe. This process has sharpened our focus, strengthened our values and culture, and guided us in implementing social and sustainable measures to ensure our business is fit to feed generations to come.
“We are all about nutrition – providing high-quality food to improve people’s lives – and we believe B Corp certification is a vital part of this journey. It amplifies our message, helps build trust, and confirms our commitment to delivering food in a truly sustainable way.”
Elle Sambrook, senior sustainability manager at St Ewe, added: “B Corp certification is a reflection of who we are as a company: innovative, bold, and honest. It allows us to ensure that our growth is grounded in the principles that matter most to us and our community. By achieving this milestone, we’re not just holding ourselves accountable but setting an example for the industry.”
The egg packer was founded more than 50 years ago by the Tonks family, and doubled its market share between December 2023 and December 2024.
There are now more than 3,000 B Corp certified businesses in the UK, including caterer Wilson Vale, London’s One Aldwych hotel and drinks supplier Frobishers in the hospitality industry.
