Esner won the Outstanding Contribution Award at the 2017 Foodservice Cateys
Simon Esner has been appointed chairman of workplace caterer Pinch.
Esner has spent over 30 years with WSH, having received the Outstanding Contribution Award at the 2017 Foodservice Cateys in recognition of his enthusiasm for the industry.
A chef by training, he went onto lead the sales operation at the parent company of BaxterStorey for over a quarter of a century.
Alongside his role at Pinch, Esner is a non-executive director of a retail high street sandwich chain, as well as several neighbourhood restaurants in London.
Katy Thompson, founder and managing director of Pinch, said: “This is a hugely exciting step for Pinch. We’ve built a business centred on great food, talented people, and strong client partnerships. With Simon on board, we’re well placed to build on that and unlock new opportunities.”
Nathan Jones, chief executive of Pinch, added: “It’s fantastic to be working with Simon again. We’re seeing real momentum in the market, and his experience will help us accelerate our plans and strengthen our position as we grow.”
Esner commented: “I’m delighted to be joining Katy, Nathan, and the team at Pinch. It’s a fantastic business with strong foundations, and I’m looking forward to supporting its continued growth.”
Pinch was incorporated in April 2023 and secured its first contract in September that year. It is now targeting growth beyond its £3m turnover threshold, operating staff restaurants, cafes and corporate hospitality spaces across London, the North East, and Cambridge.
As of March 2026, Pinch has six operational contracts.
