The Ennismore-owned hotel opened in September 2019 following a rebrand of RE Hotel London Shoreditch
Mama Shelter London in Shoreditch has closed its doors after six years of trading.
The hotel website has been taken down and the property has been removed from the listings of Ennismore’s Dis-loyalty app, a travel and food membership programme enabling discounted access to brands such as Mama Shelter, the Hoxton and Mondrian.
Mama Shelter London’s Instagram bio confirmed: “Mama Shelter is now closed. Thank you to all our guests of 6 years.”
The hotel opened in September 2019 out of a rebrand of RE Hotel London Shoreditch.
In 2023, it was also reported there were plans to take Mama Shelter to the regions with a Liverpool launch, but the project experienced repeated delays.
Mama Shelter was founded in Paris in 2008 by Serge Trigano and his two sons, Jérémie and Benjamin, as a design-led brand featuring graphic carpets, graffiti ceilings and cartoon masks used as lampshades.
The urban lifestyle brand now operates 18 properties in 16 cities, including Paris, Dubai, Zurich, Lisbon, Prague and Rome.
AccorHotels acquired a 35% stake in the Parisian Mama Shelter business in 2014 and it now forms part of its lifestyle division under the Ennismore umbrella.
Ennismore was founded by Cateys 2024 International Outstanding Achievement Award winner Sharan Pasricha and is also behind brands such as the Hoxton, SLS, Our Habitas, Mondrian, 25h, So/ and Hyde hotels.
Ennismore has been contacted for comment.
