The salt company has made efforts to connect with entrepreneurs
Essex-based Maldon Salt has been recognised for being at the vanguard of innovation, tracking market data and customer insight to drive strategy and new product development.
In 2024 Maldon Salt launched its Garlic Sea Salt and Chilli Sea Salt in larger, catering-sized 500g formats, which allow chefs and caterers to boost flavour and seasoning in one hit.
Last year Maldon also launched its first ‘power list’, the Maldon Salt 50, which celebrated the UK’s best chefs, bartenders, hoteliers, caterers and culinary educators. The list was published in a standalone magazine and featured categories – the Innovators, the Next Generation, the Educators, the Establishments and the Influencers – with profiles of chefs within each.
Judges were also impressed by the brand’s first street food tour, during which it connected with smaller restaurants at pop-up sites across London, handing out tubs of the flavoured salt range and engaging with operators emerging into the market.
With ambitious expansion plans in line for the range in 2025 and beyond, Maldon Salt is a worthy winner of the Food Brand of the Year honour for driving thought leadership and leading growth in its category.
“Maldon Sea Salt has made extreme developments in its products. With its innovation of introducing flavourings into its already outstanding core line of sea salt, it has managed to stay relevant.”
