It coincides with the launch of Social at Heathrow as its new workplace business brand
Compass Group UK & Ireland has secured a seven-year contract with Heathrow Airport, which will see the launch of a new workplace business brand, Social at Heathrow.
Social at Heathrow will be responsible for delivering food and beverage services for more than 80,000 colleagues at Europe’s largest airport.
The caterer will also support construction teams undertaking the third runway expansion project, which is seeking planning permission by 2029.
A major priority for Social at Heathrow in the year ahead will be the multimillion-pound refurbishment of 11 restaurants at Heathrow, with work due to start in April.
Many of the upgraded restaurants will feature smart vending and kiosk ordering options to speed up customer experience.
Robin Mills, chief executive of Compass UK & Ireland, said: “This fantastic new offer will see us invest in a restaurant transformation programme and introduce a new food offer. Our teams will continue to put the customer experience at the heart of all they do.
“With the third runway set to drive future growth, the team recognises our logistical capability to deliver at scale and to support the airport’s expansion. We are really proud of our partnership with Heathrow and delighted to work with them during such a critical time.”
Fraser Brown, retail director at Heathrow, added: “Social at Heathrow represents an important investment in the people who keep the airport running. This partnership with Compass will deliver upgraded facilities, better choice and a more seamless experience for more than 80,000 Team Heathrow colleagues who are working together to make Heathrow an extraordinary airport, fit for the future.”
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
