‘The Great British Pub Local’ has been designed to bring a slice of traditional British pub culture to care home residents
Signature Dining has launched a new pub-themed dining concept for care homes across the country.
‘The Great British Pub Local’ has been designed to bring a slice of traditional British pub culture to care home residents.
Dishes will include the likes of beer battered fish and chips, bangers and mash, steak and ale pie and toad in the hole, as well as desserts such as bread and butter pudding, spotted dick with custard and black forest gâteau.
The menu will also include lighter bites like BLTs, club sandwiches and fish finger sandwiches.
Residents will have access to a rotating calendar of pub-themed events, including a carvery-style Sunday at the Inn and an alcohol-free pie and pint nights.
Participating care homes will receive recipe cards and staff training support to deliver each Pub Local event.
Paul Robottom, founder and director of Signature Dining, said: “Pubs have always played a huge role in British life – they’re places where people come together, share stories and enjoy great food.
“With ‘The Great British Pub Local’, we’re recreating that sense of comfort, familiarity and togetherness for care home residents. It’s about more than serving pub favourites – it’s about delivering an experience that feels warm, social and deeply personal.”
The concept is being introduced across selected care homes in early 2026, with a full rollout planned later this year.
Signature Dining was awarded the Public Sector Caterer Award and the Health and Nutrition Award at the 2024 Cateys.
